Joonhee Lee works primarily in painting, depicting forms that navigate the boundaries between the human and non-human, the real and the surreal. Her figures, though marked by familiar features like eyes, noses, and mouths, appear closer to alien beings or mythical creatures than to actual people. Set in imaginary spatiotemporal realms constructed by the artist, these entities resemble characters from fragmented stories. Drawing on and transforming conventional imagery—such as the sun, moon, animals, and fossils—Lee arranges them in fluid, open-ended compositions. In recent works, she incorporates visual effects like light, flames, and waveforms, which infuse her figures with energy and lend the scenes emotional depth and narrative tension. Lee’s paintings successfully capture moments within a sensory narrative where imagination and reality collide.

Joonhee Lee(b.1996) graduated with a BFA in Painting from Ewha Womans University in 2021 and completed her MFA at the same university in 2024. She began her artistic career with a solo exhibition at Space Poolmoojil in 2021, followed by a second solo exhibition at CCA, Seoul in 2022. She has participated in group exhibitions at Pado (2024), dohingart (2024, 2023), Ewha Creative Art Center (2024), Post Territory Ujeongguk (2023), Space Mirage (2023), Namsan Public Library (2022), and WWW SPACE (2022).

이준희는 페인팅을 기반으로 인간과 비인간, 현실과 비현실의 경계를 넘나드는 형상들을 그려낸다. 눈, 코, 입을 갖고 있지만 인간이라기보다는 외계 생명체나 괴물에 가까운 존재들은 작가가 구성한 가상의 시공간 속에서 단편적인 이야기의 배역처럼 등장한다. 이들은 태양, 달, 동물, 화석 등 관습적 이미지의 파편을 변형해 만들어지며, 열린 구조의 화면 속에서 유동적으로 배치된다. 최근 작업에서는 빛, 불꽃, 파장 같은 이펙트(effect) 요소가 등장해 형상에 에너지를 부여하고 장면에 감정의 진폭과 서사의 긴장감을 더한다. 이준희의 회화는 현실과 상상이 교차하는 풍경 속에서 감각적 서사의 한 장면을 환상적으로 포착해낸다.

이준희(b.1996)는 2021년 이화여자대학교 서양화과 학사, 2024년 동 대학원 석사를 졸업하였다. 2021년 공간 풀무질에서의 개인전을 시작으로, 2022년 CCA(서울)에서 두 번째 개인전을 개최했다. 주요 단체전으로는 파도(2024), 도잉아트(2024, 2023), 이화아트센터(2024), 탈영역우정국(2023), 스페이스 미라주(2023), 남산도서관(2022), WWW SPACE(2022) 등에서 전시를 가졌다. 최근 다양한 그룹전으로 활발하게 활동하고 있으며, 이번 피비갤러리에서의 그룹전을 통해 갤러리와의 첫 전시를 가진다.
