Hyelim Cha (b. 1979) works across painting, sculpture, installation, video, and other media to explore the relationships among individuals, communities, and society as shaped by contemporary media, drawing on novels and narratives of her own creation. More recently, she has focused on collecting and reinterpreting images and information generated and circulated through media, visualizing the ways in which individuals form relationships and perceive the world within an information society.

Cha’s paintings and objects are constructed by layering and connecting disparate information and images. The double and triple layers and nonlinear narratives that appear in her works form open structures that allow for multiple interpretations rather than presenting a single fixed meaning. She also incorporates the exhibition space as part of the work, fragmenting and reassembling images and objects to expand the structures of reading and writing into visual and spatial experiences.

Since beginning her career with her first solo exhibition, Hyper-Hybridization, at Alternative Space LOOP in 2006, Cha has presented more than 20 solo exhibitions in Korea and abroad, including three in Berlin and exhibitions at AVP Lab and Arts Council Korea Insa Art Space. She has participated in exhibitions at major institutions in Korea and abroad, including Märkisches Museum in Berlin, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, Seoul Olympic Museum of Art (SOMA), Amorepacific Museum of Art, OCI Museum, Total Museum of Contemporary Art, Ilmin Museum of Art, and SONGEUN. In 2026, she participated in Where Writing Breathes at Buk-Seoul Museum of Art. Cha received the SONGEUN Art Award Excellence Prize in 2013 and has participated in residency programs at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin, Akiyoshidai International Art Village (AIAV) in Japan, SeMA Nanji Residency, Gyeonggi Creation Center, and Seoul Art Space Geumcheon. Her works are held in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Art Bank, Seoul Museum of Art, Incheon Foundation for Arts & Culture, SONGEUN Art Foundation, and Koo House Museum.

차혜림(b.1979)은 자신이 창작한 소설과 서사를 바탕으로 회화, 조각, 설치, 영상 등 다양한 매체를 활용해 동시대 미디어와 연결된 개인, 공동체, 사회의 관계를 탐구해왔다. 최근에는 미디어를 통해 생성·유통되는 이미지와 정보를 수집하고 재해석하며, 정보화 사회에서 개인이 관계를 맺고 세계를 인식하는 방식을 시각화하는 작업에 집중하고 있다.

작가의 회화와 오브제는 서로 다른 정보와 이미지를 중첩하고 연결하는 방식으로 구성된다. 작품에 나타나는 이중·삼중의 레이어와 비선형적 서사는 하나의 고정된 의미를 제시하기보다 다양한 해석이 가능한 열린 구조를 형성한다. 또한 전시 공간을 작품의 일부로 활용해 이미지와 오브제를 분절하고 다시 접합함으로써, 읽기와 쓰기의 구조를 시각적·공간적 경험으로 확장한다.

2006년 대안공간 루프에서 개최한 개인전 《Hyper-Hybridization》을 시작으로 본격적인 활동을 이어왔으며, 베를린에서의 세 차례 개인전을 포함해 시청각랩, 한국문화예술위원회 인사미술공간 등 국내외에서 20여 회의 개인전을 개최했다. 베를린 메르키셰스 미술관, 경기도미술관, 소마미술관, 아모레퍼시픽미술관, OCI미술관, 토탈미술관, 일민미술관, 송은 등 국내외 주요 기관의 전시에 참여했으며, 2026년 서울시립 북서울미술관 기획전 《글짓, 쓰는 예술》에 참여했다. 2013년 송은미술대상 우수상을 수상했으며, 퀸스틀러하우스 베타니엔(베를린), AIAV(일본), 난지미술창작스튜디오, 경기창작센터, 금천예술공장 등의 레지던시 프로그램에 참여했다. 작품은 국립현대미술관 미술은행, 서울시립미술관, 인천문화재단, 송은문화재단, 구하우스 등에 소장되어 있다.
